On behalf of Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rotterdam, EMHA carried out the installation, grouting and alignment of a centrifugal compressor and lubricating oil skid. Thanks to an integrated approach and multidisciplinary expertise, a stable and precisely aligned installation was achieved. This forms the basis for reliable and low-vibration operation.
Situation
The installation of a MAN centrifugal compressor required a high-quality and durable foundation solution. Precise alignment of the machinery train is crucial in this context to prevent malfunctions and unwanted vibrations. Shell’s objective was to create a robust installation in which stability, secure anchoring and vibration damping are optimally ensured.
Approach
EMHA was responsible for the entire process of grouting, anchoring and alignment. By combining our expertise in civil and mechanical engineering, we were able to take a holistic approach to the project. The installation was grouted with Chockfast® Red epoxy grout, whose non-shrink properties ensure that the alignment remains accurate over time. At the same time, the strong adhesion to steel and concrete ensures a solid bond between the skid and the foundation.
Result
The completed installation provides a stable and durable foundation for the compressor unit, ensuring that alignment is maintained under operational loads. Thanks to the vibration-damping properties of the epoxy grout, unwanted vibration levels are effectively minimised. This provides Shell with a reliable installation offering optimum operational reliability and a long service life.
