For the realisation of a new hydrocracker installation at a refinery in the Botlek, EMHA carried out the placement and grouting of approximately 60 machines. This specialist work was essential for a stable and reliable foundation for the new process installation. Through a structured approach and quality assurance in line with international guidelines, EMHA delivered a solid foundation for long-term and safe use.
Situation
In the realisation of the hydrocracker installation, dozens of machines had to be precisely positioned on concrete foundations and subsequently grouted with epoxy grout. This process requires high precision and specialist knowledge to prevent deformation, stress build-up and vibration problems. The main contractor was looking for a partner who could not only carry out the execution, but also demonstrably guarantee the quality. The objective was to reliably install all equipment in accordance with the applicable best practices (API 686), so that the installation could be commissioned without problems from day one.
Approach
EMHA was engaged by the main contractor for the complete placement and grouting of the equipment. The project included pump base frames, blowers, centrifugal compressors and a reciprocating compressor, among other things. Our specialists ensured precise positioning on the foundations and carried out the grouting with Chockfast Red epoxy grout, with controlled processing and correct application conditions being central to the work.
To guarantee quality, EMHA worked with carefully prepared checklists, based on the API 686 recommended practices. These were reviewed and signed off together with the client throughout the project, ensuring that every step was demonstrably carried out according to the highest standards.
Result
The systems were installed stably and according to specification, with optimal power transmission between machine and foundation. Thanks to the controlled execution and extensive quality assurance, the client has an installation that meets international guidelines and is immediately ready for reliable commissioning.
EMHA’s structured working method minimised risks during installation and laid a solid foundation for long-term operational reliability, lower maintenance costs and predictable performance of the complete hydrocracker installation.
