For industrial installations with outdated drive systems, EMHA undertakes the redesign of existing pump base frames. By modifying the foundations and layout, we make the integration of new motors technically feasible. The result is a precisely aligned installation that is immediately ready for use to ensure reliable operation.
Situation
When replacing motors, it is often found that new models differ in dimensions, weight and centreline from the existing configuration. As a result, the new motor often does not fit onto the existing base frame and the assembly no longer aligns with the foundation. This leads to alignment problems and risks in power transmission. The customer’s aim is to integrate the new motor seamlessly, whilst maintaining a stable foundation and correct alignment of the entire drivetrain.
Approach
EMHA carries out precise on-site measurements and uses these to develop a new foundation design. Depending on the situation, we design and construct machined plates or a steel structure that is fitted on top of the existing base frame. This structure is levelled to the exact height using temporary levelling elements, ensuring the correct centreline and alignment.
The entire structure is then grouted with Chockfast high-strength epoxy grout. Using anchor bolts specially designed by EMHA, the sole plates and the grout layer are firmly anchored to the existing foundation. This creates a single monolithic structure that ensures optimum stability and force transfer.
Result
The customised configuration makes it possible to seamlessly integrate modern motors into existing installations, without compromising on alignment or foundation stability. The robust anchoring and high-quality grouting create a durable foundation that can withstand operational loads.
The customer benefits from a future-proof solution that extends the plant’s service life, simplifies maintenance and significantly reduces the risk of vibrations and malfunctions.
