On behalf of Xylem, EMHA carried out a comprehensive inspection of the Putten pumping station for Waterschap Hollandse Delta. The entire installation was examined, from pumps to structural components. The result is a clear and substantiated picture of the technical condition and performance of the pumping station.
Situation
Putten pumping station plays a crucial role in the drainage of the island of Putten and is equipped with three fish-friendly pumps with a combined capacity of approximately 450,000 litres per minute. To guarantee long-term efficient and reliable operation, a comprehensive inspection is carried out periodically. The water authority’s need lies in the integral assessment of both mechanical and structural components, and the translation of these findings into concrete maintenance information.
- Large capacity and high availability requirements
- Periodic inspection to ensure reliability and performance
- Need for clear and usable maintenance information
Approach
EMHA carried out a combination of visual inspections and advanced measurements to fully map the technical condition of the pumping station. Both installation components and structural elements were assessed.
- Visual inspections of pumps, drives, inlet and outlet points and emergency gates
- Wall thickness measurements and checks of impeller clearances
- Multi-channel vibration measurements for insight into dynamic behaviour
In addition to the inspection, EMHA added value by advising on suitable research methodologies and drawing up standardised and clear reports.
Result and added value
The inspection resulted in a complete and structured insight into the condition of the pumping station. This enables the water authority to better plan and substantiate maintenance and future investments.
- Clear and standardised reporting for direct applicability
- Substantiated advice for maintenance and optimisation
- Basis for further development of standardised inspection methodologies
With this approach, EMHA supports Waterschap Hollandse Delta in efficiently managing critical infrastructure and increasing long-term reliability.
