Situation
For a newly to be built research vessel, EMHA provides noise and vibration advice to Kewatec Shipyards. The focus is on both critical and less obvious factors. With a substantiated underwater noise prognosis, EMHA supports the design of an optimally performing vessel.
Approach
EMHA drew up a comprehensive advisory report covering all relevant aspects of noise and vibration. An underwater noise prognosis was also carried out using a calculation method developed by EMHA. This method makes it possible to define and quantify all major noise sources across the full spectrum at an early design stage.
Result
With this advice, Kewatec has a clear and substantiated picture of the noise and vibration behaviour of the vessel. This makes it possible to minimise interference with sonar equipment and to optimise the design in a targeted manner, contributing to the performance and reliability of the final vessel.
