During the official sea trial of the Euro Carrier NP 676, EMHA carried out extensive noise and vibration measurements. These measurements objectively confirmed that the vessel complies with the applicable classification and comfort requirements. The measurements formed an essential part of the process leading to a successful handover.

Situation

Neptune Shipyards BV was in the final stages of constructing the new Euro Carrier NP 676. Prior to final acceptance and classification, noise and vibration measurements were carried out under representative operating conditions, both during free sailing and during bollard pull at full load.

Our contribution

EMHA carried out official trial measurements on the Nieuwe Waterweg on behalf of Neptune Shipyards BV, in the presence of both the client and a representative from Bureau Veritas. Our specialists measured noise levels during free sailing at 80% MCR and analysed vibrations on machinery, foundations and decks, both during free sailing and during bollard pull at full load. Using certified measuring equipment and a structured measurement approach, EMHA delivered reliable data and a well-founded report that was immediately suitable for classification assessment.

Results & value added

The measurement results showed that all noise levels remained within the specified target values and that the vibration levels on machinery, foundations and living quarters comfortably met the class requirements. Neptune Shipyards BV thus had independent and objective proof of quality, comfort and technical integrity. Thanks to this assurance, the NP 676 could be submitted for classification without the need for additional measures, which contributed to an efficient and predictable delivery process.
