One of our valuable clients requested EMHA to carry out seismic analyses on their high voltage disconnector designs. These disconnector should finally be delivered to the end-user, situated somewhere in the Mediterranean area. The purpose of this analysis was to verify the structural integrity of the disconnectors in case an earthquake should occur. The disconnectors are verified in ANSYS by means of a so called “Response Spectrum Analysis”. The design must conform the IEC International Standard. The seismic loads are combined with all the other occurring loads, in order to verify the strength and stiffness of the different disconnectors.

The successful executing of this specific assignment once again highlights EMHA’s versatility when it comes to complex engineering analysis by means of Finite Element Method (FEM).
